Alexander Cuenca is Associate Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Associate Dean for Accreditation, and coordinator of the Middle/Secondary Social Studies Education program at Indiana University. His research focuses on social studies teacher education, the pedagogy of teacher education, and teacher education policy.
Recently edited books include Teaching for Citizenship in Urban Schools and Rethinking Social Studies for the Twenty-First Century. His research has been published in journals such as the Journal of Teacher Education, Theory and Research in Social Education, Studying Teacher Education, and Teaching and Teacher Education. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Cuenca was a social studies teacher in Miami, Florida.
