Hilde W. Afdal was a teacher in primary education and adult education for 15 years before pursuing a master’s degree and a PhD at the University of Oslo. Since 2006 she has been a teacher educator and since 2018’a professor of education at Østfold University College as well, in the south-east of Norway. She also holds a part-time position at the Centre of the Studies of the Professions at Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet). Her main research interests are teachers’ professional knowledge; teacher education; research-based teacher education; research use in the teaching profession; teachers’ professional values; knowledge in curricula for professional programs; and most recently technology enhanced simulation in teacher education. Afdal mostly works with qualitative data in her research.
