Ali Yildirim is Professor of Pedagogical Work at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. He leads Didactic Classroom Studies research environment with around 50 researchers in the Department of Didactical, Pedagogical and Curricular Studies. He is currently the scientific leader to two Swedish Research Council research projects on novice teachers´ assessment literacy and mentor teacher professional development. He is also part of a network project on research literacy development in teacher education and the co-editor of a special issue in progress on final thesis in teacher education. He previously worked at Middle East Technical University in Turkey for 25 years. He provided consultancy to Turkish Ministry of Education in nationwide research projects such as curriculum development and evaluation, textbook development, national testing, parent education and vocational education. He also served as consultant to World-Bank financed projects in Turkey such as Preservice Teacher Education Development Project. He has been involved in EU projects focusing on active citizenship, lifelong education, climate friendly schools, school networks and validation of learning outcomes. His research interests include teaching and learning processes, curriculum planning and assessment, teacher education, and social studies education. His published books and articles focus on teacher education, instructional planning, thinking and learning skills, teaching of social studies and qualitative research.
