Prof. Dr. Gelengül HAKTANIR

After graduating from Hacettepe University, Department of Child Development and Education in 1981, she worked as a kindergarten teacher for three years and then began her academic career at Ankara University. She received her doctorate in 1994, associate professorship in 1997, and professorship in 2004. She served as the president of the Turkish Preschool Education Development Association between 1998 and 2016, and served on the editorial boards of the TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye) Meraklı Minik Magazine (Curious Little One) and the Popular Science Library between 2006 and 2015. She worked as a faculty member at Ankara University between 1984 and 2016, conducting scientific research and projects, and providing consultancy. She has taught courses, participated in national and international meetings, published articles, and given conferences in the fields of early childhood development and education, family education, science education, environmental education, and education for sustainable development. He has been working voluntarily as a member of the scientific advisory board and preparation of the “Tiny TEMA Nature Education Program” for preschool children at the TEMA Foundation since 2011. Haktanır, who was elected as the “Lifetime Honorary Member of the World Organization for Early Childhood Education (OMEP)” in 2021, continues to contribute to scientific studies in his field, give conferences and work as a member of the TEMA (The Turkish Foundation for Combating Soil Erosion, Reforestation and the Protection of Natural Habitats) Scientific Board.
